What is MBSR?

This is the original 8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed at the Stress Reduction Clinic at UMass Medical Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Since 1979 more than 25,000 people have completed this evidence-based training.

MBSR course aims to support you in taking better care of yourself and getting more out of living. MBSR offers new ways to handle challenging emotions, moods, physical sensations, or social situations.

Course overview

  • Pre-course interview (20 min)
  • Orientation session (1h), scheduled for one or two weeks before your course
  • 8 weekly classes, 2.5h each
  • All-day silent retreat class on a Saturday or Sunday (5-6h)
  • Daily home practice assignments for ~45 minutes each day

Practical information

  • To start the course no prior meditation experience is required
  • All courses are taught in English
  • Please note that the MBSR course requires a strong commitment to attend all classes and to do daily home assignments for eight weeks.
